Peeps and Pics

Yesterday my good friend David Burke came to visit and meet Stella. He lives in Brooklyn although we know each other from Buffalo. Stella spent the whole time staring at him intently as she sometimes does. He didn't seem to mind. He brought her the cutest little raincoat and a little treat Stella hadn't met yet. PEEPS! I took a couple shots of her today enjoying the sugary bliss that is Peeps. Thanks Dave!

Speaking of pictures.....Stella took her very first photo today! We were playing with my camera and I was showing her how to make the flash go and how to see the shot on the back of the camera in the little screen. She squealed as she saw little tiny versions of herself pop up. Finally she found the right button to actually take a picture and here it is! YAY!!!!

A Straw!!!

Yesterday at the grocery store I was lured in by a cute cup that happened to have a straw instead of the usual sippy spout. Even though I thought Stella drinking with a straw was months away I got it. When we got home I put her afternoon snack of graham crackers on her 'table for one' (a stool I keep in the kitchen) and along with it....the shiney new fancy cup with the straw. She snatched it right up and proceeded to chew on the straw, tip the cup upside down and try to sip from the top of the lid. All very adorable! I went to get her a real sippy and when I passed it to her she was too busy drinking from the straw to notice! WooHoo! It is the little things some days. I watch in wonder as she drinks form a straw and I know in my heart she is destined to do great things. TeeHee.

"Stella night night"

Stella seems to have suddenly figured everything out. It's as if a light bulb went on over her head, as Jen says. She just seems to understand what we're saying to her. For example, tonight we were playing down in the basement as we do every night before bed. At 7:15, we usually start getting her upstairs to get her ready for bed. Tonight, I looked at her and said "Stella, night night". She instantly stopped what she was doing and made a bee line straight for the stairs . Amazing! We've probably only said "Stella night night" to her a few times but she understands now exactly what it means.

Better late than never!

We probably should have started this blog on April 23rd, 2005, when Jennifer and I got married...or on December 28th, 2006, when our daughter Stella was born. But sometimes life gets in the way and you forget to do these things. So, better late than never.

Anyway, this is mostly for us but if you happen to stumble across it feel free to explore. First, a quick introduction as to where we are in our lives today, February 24th, 2008. Jen & I live in Central New Jersey in a town called Robbinsville. It's a growing town for sure, which is good and bad. There are still large plots of undeveloped land which is really nice. But there are also thousands of new homes being built all around us. It's a town in transition, that is for sure. We've lived here for just about 2 years now after we both did long stints in New York City (over 30 years between the 2 of us). We met in 2002 and our lives have never been the same!

We're really writing to try and keep track of the progress in our little one's life. Our daughter Stella is amazing and each day it seems she discovers something new. She's just about 14 months old now and not quite walking but very close to it. Every day she amazes us with something new. Just yesterday she said "car" for the first time, and also looked up at me when I was changing her and smiled and said "daddy". If that doesn't melt your heart nothing will! She's a really neat little girl and it's amazing to see how she's changed in the last year, as you can see!

That's all for now. Hopefully we'll do a good job of keeping this up to date!
